Known generally as the goldenrod hooded owlet or asteroid moth, is a species of moth in the family Noctuidae (the owlet moths). The larvae feed primarily on the flowers of goldenrod (Solidago spp.) and aster (Aster spp.). Overwinters in the pupal stage in a tough underground cocoon.
